Croatian cuisine reflects the cultures that have influenced the country through the centuries. There is influence of the Italian style cuisine on the coast and Austrian style cuisine in the interior.

Coastal cuisine is typically Mediterranean, using a lot of olive oil, garlic, fish and herbs. Meals often begin with risotto or ham (pršut) with cheese and salted olives. Pršut is a very savory Dalmatian ham cured in air. Often variety of cheeses are eaten together with a ham. Among the various cheeses, paški sir from the island of Pag has a special rank.

Main meal is usually meat (pork or veal) with vegetables or fish with vegetables. They can be prepared in a variety of ways. Where meat is concerned, the coastal region have mainly produced dishes using lamb and goat. Beef and pork dishes are prepared mostly in inland of Croatia. Fish has always been the dominant factor of traditional cooking along the coast. Fish can come either grilled, baked or boiled.

The more expensive restaurant will have delicacies such as crab, oysters, mussels and lobsters. Seafood delicacies are specialities of the region of peninsula of Pelješac and town Ston. Typical restaurant desserts include ice cream, cake or pancakes. Typical dessert in Dubrovnik aerea is rožata, the locally produced version of creme caramel.

Regarding typical dalmatian dishes, we would like to suggest you as follows: brodet , mixed fish stewed with rice, pašticada, beef stuffed with lard and roasted in wine and spices, grilled squid and squid risotto.

Dalmatian wines have been highly esteemed since ancient times. Every region produces its own wines. Famous wines include Dingač and Postup from the Pelješac Peninsula, then there are Pošip and Grk from Korčula, Plavac from Brač island and Malvasy from Dubrovnik region.

Regarding brandies, Croatia is famous for its herbal brandies (travarica), cognacs (vinjak) and liqueurs such as maraschino, a cherry liqueur made in Zadar, prosecco, a sweet dessert wine and pelinkovac, a herbal liquer.

There are more than 60 restaurants in Dubrovnik, offering a great variety of dishes.In general, restaurants offer traditional Dalmatian cuisine, Croatian continental cuisine, and international cuisine. Mostly the restaurants are situated in the Old town of Dubrovnik.
